Our size, around 50 employees, all based in our office in the heart of St James, means that every employee is able to make a positive impact but also enables them to have a breadth of knowledge rather than having to be specialists in one area with the chance of greater responsibility.

 

The Role

The role supports the smooth running of IT applications and operational environments that serve both internal and external customers. The post holder will assist with monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining key applications, while also learning to deliver changes and enhancements with minimal business disruption. This is a hands-on role suitable for someone at an early stage in their career who is keen to learn banking IT systems, operational resilience, and best practices in application support.

 

Accountabilities

  • Assist with day-to-day monitoring and support of IT applications, ensuring high availability and stability.
  • Log, track and resolve system issues in a timely manner, escalating to senior staff or vendors where appropriate.
  • Provide first-line IT support to staff for application-related queries or faults.
  • Support in carrying out core banking daily processes and routine system checks.
  • Learn to operate and maintain mortgage and payment systems, with guidance from senior staff.
  • Assist with application upgrades, patches, and software installations under supervision.
  • Help document incidents, known issues, and resolution steps for future reference.
  • Contribute to disaster recovery and business continuity testing activities as required.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in IT Infrastructure and other departments to minimise business disruption.
  • Take part in training opportunities to gain skills in banking applications and IT service management.
  • Responsible for End of day operations, system security / system backup & logging

 

 

Experience Required

  • 1 – 2 years’ experience in working in an IT department.
  • Basic understanding of IT systems and troubleshooting methods.
  • Past experience in working in Banking technology or Banks will be an advantage
  • Willingness to learn core banking systems (e.g., Equation, Quantum, SWIFT).
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills to support colleagues and escalate issues effectively.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow guidance.
  • Interest in IT risk, change management, and operational resilience.
  • Self-motivation and eagerness to develop new technical skills.
